Overview
The Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program(CGEP) is a unique cooperative agreement among the five largest engineering schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia: Old Dominion University (ODU), the University of Virginia (UVA), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU), George Mason University (GMU), and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). The Schools/Colleges of Engineering of these Universities have developed the program in response to the diverse continuing education needs of engineering graduates working in industry and government.
Graduate engineering courses, leading to a Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree are offered through an interactive telecommunications system providing live televised instruction from broadcast studios operated by ODU, UVA, and VPI & SU.
"Receive" classrooms are located in the eastern region of Virginia on the Old Dominion University campus, in Hampton, at the University's Peninsula Higher Education Center, in Virginia Beach at either the ODU/Norfolk State Higher Education Center or the UVA/VPI & SU Higher Education Center, and outside the region funded sites are: Center for Advanced Engineering, Southern VA Higher Education Center, University of Mary Washington, Shenandoah University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Additional "receive" sites may be established at other university or corporate locations once an interest in receiving graduate engineering instruction has been identified
