Dr. Dimitrie C Popescu

Dr. Dimitrie C. Popescu received the Engineering Diploma and M.S. degrees from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest, Romania, and the Ph.D. degree from Rutgers University, all in Electrical Engineering. His research interests span the areas of communication systems, control theory, and
signal processing. His current work is in the area of wireless communication systems, but he has also done research in speech processing, robust optimal control, and neural networks. Dr.Popescu has held academic positions with the University of Texas at San Antonio, Rutgers University, and POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest. He has also worked as a member of technical staff for AT&T Labs in Florham Park, New Jersey, and for Telcordia Technologies in Red Bank, New Jersey. He has co-authored, with Christopher Rose, a monograph book on interference avoidance methods for wireless systems published by Kluwer Academic Publishers in 2004, and was awarded second prize in the 1999 AT&T Student Research Symposium for his work on application of interference avoidance over dispersive channels. He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University in September 2006.
