ECE Led Team Wins Inaugural Virtual Exploratory Sustainability Challenge
Two ODU students, Tim Dugan, a Computer Engineering major, and Andrew Miller, a Computer Science major, teamed with three students at the Grassfield High School Technology Academy in Chesapeake, Virginia to win the inaugural Virtual Exploratory Sustainability Challenge (VESC). The team was lead by Dr. Lee Belfore who served as the university faculty mentor for the team.
The challenge was to design an extra-vehicular activity (EVA) to maintain and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope's New Outer Blanket Layer (NOBL) thermal protection system. The winning team will travel to NASA Goddard on May 14 to present their solution to the Hubble Servicing team.
