Guideway

The guideway is elevated, and is of reinforced concrete construction. Metal "track", incorporating components essential to levitation and propulsion, is mounted on top of the guideway.  Overall, the length is 3,270 feet, spanning the ODU campus 13½ feet above a major pedestrian way that bisects the campus in an east-west direction. The elevation increases to 16½ feet to clear Hampton Blvd. The route connects dormitories, academic buildings and student-activity centers including the Constant Convocation Center and University Village, as well as a major parking garage and the SpringHill Suites hotel. The guideway is nominally straight, excepting for two pairs of S-curves designed to accommodate offsets (15.4 ft and 12.8 ft) in the walkway spanned.
