ODU is partnered with MagneMotion Inc. (MMI), based in Acton, MA, to demonstrate MMI's "M3" technology on the ODU guideway, with funding provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).  The contract was awarded in Spring 2007 and comprises two phases:

1. Analysis of the ODU guideway; development of the infrastructure at ODU in preparation for vehicle operations, development of a "sled" and preliminary testing thereof at MMI, and analysis of ridership and other factors in prapration for Phase II.
2. Demontration of the MMI sled on a segment of the ODU guideway at speeds up to 40 mph. Sustained autonomous operation of one or more vehicles.
