Points of Interest

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, an accredited program, offers a four-year program of study leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME). The Department of Mechanical Engineering houses modern and well equipped laboratories dedicated to undergraduate programs. The mission of the department is to offer quality undergraduate education designed to prepare students to challenges faced in their entire professional career. This goal is achieved by incorporating the following features in the program:

  • Strong emphasis on quality of undergraduate education
  • Relatively small class sizes in most Mechanical Engineering courses
  • Nationally recognized Faculty teach most courses
  • Additional Faculty/Student contact through advising and mentoring
  • Special opportunities to work on projects sponsored by industry and competitions sponsored by National Engineering organizations
  • Well established cooperative education and internship programs allow students to work in industry while attending school
