Dr. Noor taught at Stanford university, Cairo University (Egypt), University of Baghdad (Iraq); University of New South Wales(Australia), George Washington University, University of Virginia, before joining ODU in 2001.

He joined the MSVE Department  in  2010.

Dr. Noor is a fellow of ASME, AIAA, ASCE, AAM (American Academy of Mechanics), US Association of Computational Mechanics.

He is the editor-in -chief of Advances in Engineering Software (Elsevier), and the Central European Journal of Engineering (Versita / Springer)

He teaches courses on Advanced Visualization, Finite element Analysis,  Information/ cyber/ meta literacy, and Exploring engineering and technology.

His research interests include Interactive Immersive Visual Simulations and Virtual Worlds; Collaborative Distributed Knowledge Discovery and Exploitation; Learnscapes (Advanced Learning and Training Paradigms, Technologies and Environments); and Intelligent Adaptive Cyber-Physical EcoSystems
